IT Infrastructure Support for Major Convention Center

Project Description

A major Convention Center required a full-service IT Consultant, to operate and maintain the Center’s IT function, including the transition of the Center’s offices to a newly constructed office space. Approximately 40 – 50 staff of varying disciplines, including accounting and construction management, were relocated to a 15,000 square foot open office space across the street from the current location.

Project Goals

The Center partnered with SDI to provide full-service Information Technology (IT) Consultant services to operate and maintain the Center’s IT function, including the transition of the Center’s offices to a newly constructed office space. The Authority requires that all Services of the Consultant be performed with that degree of skill, care, and diligence normally shown by a professional performing service of comparable scope, purpose, and magnitude.

Services Delivered

The Center contracted with SDI because of our high quality, on-time relocation experience as well as an extensive resume of supporting Chicago’s public-facing organizations. SDI provided the following services:

  • Local Account Manager
  • Project Manager
  • Phase I: Assessment, Design and Move Support
    • Design and install new network environment
    • Ensure no disruption of business during the move
  • Phase II: Post- Move and Ongoing Support Services
    • Help Desk Support
    • Provide and monitor network security systems and back-up systems, ensuring all systems and devices are up to date with the latest available malware, virus protection, and other pertinent cybersecurity measures.
    • Provide a help desk available online, by chat, and by phone, 7 am – 7 pm
    • Maintain all IT infrastructure as necessary.
    • Maintain all software licenses, update, replace, provide new as required/requested.
    • Specify and install new equipment as needed.
    • Specify and install new software as needed.
    • Migrated 200 users to new Office 365 instance
    • The legacy custom developed Intranet Portal was successfully migrated to SharePoint to support Human Resources, Accounting and Procurement functions
Project Results

SDI completed both Phases I and II on-time and within budget. We continue to provide technical support services.
