Deploying an Integrated Security Command Center for a Major Convention Center

SDI delivered turnkey design and implementation of technology systems for a new Security Command Center in a major U.S. city. The Command Center oversees safety and security activities for the 2.2 million square foot convention center

Project Goals

The convention center’s security team required an integrated Command Center environment that provides state-of-the-art security technology systems. The new system was to streamline and enhance current video surveillance and security monitoring to enable security personnel to provide instantaneous assessment and response to security situations.

  • Designed, procured, installed, and integrated the following: Video display systems including a 20-foot video wall; Incident Management System; Consoles and computers; and Unified Command Interface.
  • The completed Unified Command Interface integrates surveillance cameras, access control systems, fire alarm, parking garage, and elevator management systems.
  • This integrated system features automatic response to events and data and video links to city’s 9-1-1 Center and City Hall through an Internet VPN
Project Results

The command center has proven to be a major enhancement to the convention center’s security operations. It provides visibility into the large facility, enhanced situational awareness, and an increased ability to respond more quickly and effectively to threats. The Command Center is cited as a key factor that attracts convention center business.
