SAN DIEGO, October 31, 2009 — SDI (System Development.Integration, LLC), a systems integrator specializing in technical and operational support for capital asset intensive organizations, announces that it has partnered with Siemens Building Technologies to provide San Diego Airport, the busiest single-runway commercial service airport in the nation, with advanced security technology services to improve its security operations.
As part of the airport’s 5-phased program, SDI performed a design review and specified implementation criteria and integration requirements for the deployment of an advanced security management software platform (SMSP) and digital video management system (DVMS) to improve security surveillance at all checkpoints and baggage screening areas. SDI also implemented updated checkpoint and baggage screening area maps, and established a set of “response scenario” rules in the SMSP to ensure that incident responses are standardized. SDI subsequently integrated both the SMSP and DVMS systems, allowing both TSA and airport security personnel to view all checkpoint cameras and use advanced “subject tracking” features of the SMSP from a single user interface. These new operational capabilities will allow airport security personnel to better communicate and manage incident response.
From megapixel surveillance to biometric access controls, SDI specializes in vendor-independent technical advisory, implementation and long-term support services for airport environments, offering the unique qualification of having repeatedly delivered security system implementation and integration services in a live Category X airport environment for 19 years. SDI was chosen for this work based on its airport experience and deep expertise in the technology aspects of security systems deployment, including leveraging existing network infrastructure, storage protocols, and device configuration. Throughout the airport’s multi-year enhancement program, San Diego’s security technology applications and infrastructure will be built to meet their operational requirements.
“San Diego understands the advantages in taking a holistic approach to upgrading security technology, creating a consolidated security and airport operations environment that produces efficiencies and increased functionality in both areas,” said Christopher Payne, vice president and airport industry executive of SDI. “This approach reflects the SDI technology integration model, and we look forward to delivering technology continuity and desired functionality to meet San Diego Airport’s security objectives.”
