CHICAGO, August 23, 2018 – SDI Presence LLC (SDI) today announced that EQ Office (EQ), the U.S. office portfolio company wholly-owned by Blackstone’s real estate funds, has selected SDI to provide property information and emergency planning services for its newly redeveloped Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower).
Willis Tower is among the tallest buildings in the United States, towering above downtown Chicago at 110 stories. Blackstone acquired Willis Tower in 2015 and announced more than half a billion-dollar renovation to the building earlier this year in conjunction with EQ. Through the investment, Willis Tower will be transformed and reinforced as a civic destination and the ultimate workplace, with unprecedented office amenities and unique retail and entertainment experiences. The redevelopment will include 150,000 square feet of space for tenant use, more than 300,000 square feet of new retail, dining and entertainment space to be added to the base of the building, and a new 30,000-square-foot outdoor deck and garden space.
SDI will provide several property intelligence services to enable EQ property owners and managers and leasing teams to adeptly manage the space of the properties. The SDI team will field-verify existing conditions, calculate square footage per BOMA 2017 standards, and produce CAD building files. The Willis Tower team will have secured access to building information through SDI’s online PROFOLIO® portal, including accurate vacant and rentable square footage, lease abstracts and expiration dates, printable CAD drawings and floor plans, and stacking plans. SDI’s dedicated team of real estate professionals will continuously update the property’s information and provide daily support, including customized broker mailers. The SDI Team will also provide the building’s Emergency Plans – which include tenant information, evacuation routes, and emergency procedures – to comply with City of Chicago ordinances.
