SDI Delivers Online Payment Functionality for Cook County Tax Payments

Chicago, July 24, 2012 — SDI (System Development.Integration, LLC), a systems integrator focusing on government technology and infrastructure, announces its delivery of an online electronic payment option for home rule taxes on the Cook County Department of Revenue’s website. County businesses are now able to log into the county’s website (https://revenue.cookcountyil.gov/pwe/) to remit payment for multiple tax types – including parking, gas and diesel, amusement, liquor, and dealership use and new motor vehicle taxes – rather than having to mail in payment, or travel to a payment center. At the same time, the new automated clearinghouse (ACH) payment option system benefits County government through improved revenue collection, operational efficiencies, and increased cash flow.

Cook County is the second most populated county in the United States with approximately 5.2 million residents, or 40% of all Illinois residents. Cook County’s Department of Revenue collects approximately $372 million in home rule taxes and other fees per year.

Alongside MBE partner Catalyst Consulting, SDI conducted a thorough analysis of the County’s business requirements, and designed the payment web experience to allow businesses to choose among multiple tax types when selecting their invoices for payment. SDI developed a remittance file transfer and integrated JP Morgan Chase’s Pay Connexion application into the County’s web collection environment. In addition, SDI created an interface back into Cook County’s financial and reporting applications

“Cook County understands the need for both efficient government and the importance of providing their citizens with a convenient, easy-to-use payment method,” says David Gupta, CEO of SDI. The Home Rule Online Payment Application is the first of several additional payment types that being considered by Cook County Department of Revenue in the future.
