CHICAGO, February 2, 2017 – SDI (SDI Presence LLC), the mission-critical IT systems integrator, announces that government IT and security industry executive Michael Sutherland has joined the firm as its Vice President of Sales. Sutherland comes with more than 25 years of experience within the public sector technology market, having held sales positions at IBM, Siemens, and Cisco Systems.

As Client Services Representative for Global Technology Services Infrastructure Services at IBM, Sutherland was charged with closing highly complex information technology solutions for Public Sector and Life Sciences clients. Sutherland interfaced with senior client executives to identify and develop integrating products and services required to meet their business needs. Sutherland led multi-disciplined teams to win advanced cloud, cyber security, mobility and data center solution deployments at various government agencies in the State of Illinois and leading healthcare organizations. Prior to IBM, Sutherland held the position of Director of Sales for Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) vendor VidSys, where he drove the selection of the centralized command and control solution at the City of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications, Monsanto, and the Kansas City National Nuclear Security Administration. Prior, Sutherland was a Sales Senior Executive at Siemens, where he led integrated network infrastructure design and optimization and video management systems implementations at clients that included Metra, the Chicago Transit Authority, and the Chicago Housing Authority.
