Team Beautifies CPS School
CHICAGO, July 2, 2008 -- SDI (System Development.Integration, LLC), a public sector systems integrator specializing in command environment systems, infrastructure and operations, sponsored and participated in the 15th annual Chicago Cares 2008, the largest single day of community service in the City of Chicago on June 15, 2008.
The Serve-a-Thon brought out thousands of volunteers who fanned out across the city to 36 schools, helping 22,000 children, teachers, and their families. Armour School Principal, a 2008 Serve-a-thon school stated "They're not just painting. They're changing the environment from something that was dull dingy and old into a colorful, positive environment. This is just going to transform the learning" (as quoted in the Chicago Tribune, June 15, 2008).
The SDI team was dispatched to the City's South Shore High School where the 25- plus member Team was tasked with painting the stairways. SDI participants, which included family members and friends, stated that they felt proud to make a hands-on difference in the community.
The Chicago Cares event is part of SDI's 12th year program, which was created as part of SDI's 10th year anniversary celebration and to reaffirm its core business value of giving back to its community.
