Challenge
A coastal city fire department relied on multiple backend systems to support emergency response, staffing, and operational reporting. However, these systems operated independently, preventing leadership from correlating data across platforms to understand operational efficiency, measure current service demand, or forecast future resource needs.
Without an integrated analytics solution, the department lacked real-time insight into response performance, unit utilization, hospital wait times, and staffing trends, limiting its ability to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Solution
SDI designed and implemented a cloud-based Business Intelligence platform using Power BI to consolidate data from multiple operational systems into a single analytics environment. The solution integrated data from Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Time and Attendance, Learning Management, electronic patient care reporting, and Fire Inspection systems.
Using native connectors and automated ingestion processes, SDI enabled near real-time dashboards and reporting that provided a unified operational view of emergency services activity and workforce performance.
