Challenge
A technology provider supporting natural gas utilities relied on manual processes to extract and distribute leak detection data from its field measurement platform. Reports were generated in multiple formats and manually transferred to secure servers, creating delays and limiting timely access to actionable information.
This approach made it difficult for utility clients to integrate data with existing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Customer Information Systems (CIS). The lack of real-time integration reduced operational efficiency, slowed response times for leak repair, and increased the risk of noncompliance with regulatory requirements.
Solution
SDI partnered with the technology provider to develop a modern integration platform that automated data exchange between the field measurement system and utility enterprise systems. The solution enabled real-time transfer of actionable data into EAM and CIS platforms, eliminating manual file handling and streamlining downstream workflows.
The platform was designed to support regulatory compliance and operational scalability by simplifying data ingestion, improving system interoperability, and enabling faster decision-making. This collaborative solution modernized leak detection and repair processes while aligning with utilities’ existing technology environments.
