Challenge
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) needed to modernize and integrate its critical security systems to support long-term business strategies and future growth. The existing infrastructure had limitations that hindered system integration, operational efficiency, and the ability to meet evolving airport master planning objectives.
The airport required a trusted partner to provide project management expertise, guide technology selection, and support a comprehensive systems design process. This included managing multiple projects across hardware, software, and IT infrastructure while ensuring alignment with operational and security priorities.
Solution
SDI was selected to provide Project Management Professional Services through LAWA’s Information Management and Technology (IMT) Project Management Office (PMO). Leveraging deep knowledge of airport operations and technology infrastructure, SDI delivered project planning, scheduling, portfolio management, and subject-matter expertise to support high-performance applications and integrated security systems.
Since 2019, SDI managed multiple task orders and projects, including staffing, systems integration, procurement of new hardware and software, and the design of LAWA’s new Airport Response Coordination Center (ARCC). The team ensured projects were delivered efficiently, aligned with operational goals, and met the airport’s rigorous safety and security standards.
