SDI Presents Data Models for Regional Evacuation Strategies at Secured Cities Conference 2015
November 5, 2015
The presentation, “Managing the Unmanageable: Evacuating a Major City During No-Notice Massive Events” will be presented by SDI’s Yilmaz Halac and is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th at 5:00PM CST at the Crown Plaza Hotel Reliant Park:
Evacuating a major city during no-notice massive events such as chemical, radiological attacks or HazMat spills can be an overwhelming task for the first responders. This task becomes exponentially complicated if the evacuation area is affecting large, regional areas. The objectives of the presentation are to share a multi-modal regional transportation model that allows for the analysis of different evacuation scenarios, and appropriate emergency response strategies to build a library that can be used to develop appropriate regional emergency response plans. The evacuation modeling tool (RTSTEP) project was developed for the Chicago Metropolitan Area so that emergency responders can use to pre-plan evacuation strategies; the tool was used during 2012 NATO to create various scenarios.
SDI’s Yilmaz Halac is a Vice President with SDI in Chicago. Mr. Halac, previously served as Managing Deputy Director for the City of Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), overseeing technology for Chicago Police (CPD), Chicago Fire (CFD), 311 (non-emergency) and OEMC – 911.
