CHARLESTON, SC July 2, 2015 – SDI (SDI Solutions LLC), a mission-critical systems integrator delivering intelligent IT solutions to ensure client safety, security and revenue generation, announces the appointment of Todd L. Smith as Vice President and General Manager for its Charleston, South Carolina office. As part of the firm’s commitment to servicing the south-Atlantic market, Smith will direct SDI’s Charleston branch operations and will be responsible for on-time and on-budget delivery of client projects.

Smith brings 20 years of proven experience in leading teams to successfully execute complex security and technology projects. He most recently served as a Program Manager at DRS Technical Services, where he led several federal projects including the Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal (JEOD) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) program, which delivered maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and training for over 200 VSATs on three operational networks. Smith’s project portfolio also includes oversight management for the U.S. Army’s Child Youth Services 15,000-camera Video Surveillance System program and consolidated security technology services for the Army’s Integrated Base Defense Security System program. Outside of DRS, Smith has held operations and program management positions with BAE Systems and Resolution Management Consultants.
Smith has also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve since 2001 as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps officer, and is currently selected for promotion to Captain (O-6). In this capacity, he has excelled in numerous challenging leadership positions, including leading all operations, training and readiness aspects of a naval mobile construction battalion consisting of 584 enlisted and 17 officers, conducting contingency construction worldwide. A licensed professional engineer (PE), certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), and holding an active Top Secret Security Clearance, Smith earned an MBA from The Citadel Graduate College and a BS from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
