Integrated Building Technologies Set the Bar for a Higher Level of Tenant Service
CHICAGO, August 21, 2009 — SDI (System Development.Integration, LLC), systems integrator with over 19 years of commercial real estate technology experience, today announces that it has been selected by Mesirow Financial Real Estate as its technology advisor for 353 North Clark, a new Class A office tower in Chicago.
SDI will advise the development team on creating an integrated tenant-facing technology environment that contributes to the vision of delivering an unmatched office experience for tenants, employees, and visitors alike. SDI is assisting with selecting and implementing web-based systems and card technologies, and designing a comprehensive tenant portal. By matching 353’s user requirements to the most advanced technologies available, SDI will provide the ability to deliver unprecedented levels of tenant services at its 353 N. Clark property.
“353 N. Clark will set a new standard for quality and tenant amenities in commercial office environments. The advanced, tenant-focused technologies provide a level of convenience and security control that goes beyond basic building amenities, to become a lifestyle enhancement,” says Rux Currin, Senior Vice President of Mesirow Financial Real Estate.
Along with advanced web-based technologies, the 353 project is taking an integrated technology systems approach that is relatively new in the commercial real estate industry, and a change from traditional design practices used in high rise buildings. “Rather than viewing systems as separate components, they now become part of a single, converged, IP-based technology infrastructure,” states SDI Senior Consultant Thomas Condon. “This allows systems to interact with older technologies to a greater extent, providing a much richer, far more functional user experience. Tenants can now interact with the building through a web portal that allows them to enter building work requests, manage their visitors, and even order catering for large office events.” Condon further notes that, “in order to realize these efficiencies, it becomes essential to have an understanding of the building’s entire technology landscape and to then coordinate the disparate systems into a cohesive whole.”
From building technology advisory services to video surveillance implementation to property information management, SDI helps building owners and managers maximize the leasing revenues, operational efficiencies, and security of their properties. The firm currently manages more than 150 million square feet of property information across the nation, providing clients with secured access to lease expiration dates, vacant and rentable square footage (RSF), CAD drawings and floor plans, and emergency planning documents through its online real estate portal, ProFolio™ (www.sdiprofolio.com).
SDI is currently overseeing the tenant-facing technology installations at the 353 N. Clark property, and is on-schedule for the building opening in October 2009.
